Blue Whales by Sally Woodcock
Blue Whales tells the story of a friendship between two Luton schoolgirls in the decade following the 2005 London bombings. British Muslim Aisha and Tiva, a policeman’s daughter, compete annually for their school's much-revered Morris Science Scholarship against a bewildering backdrop of paranoia, cultural prejudice, sexual politics and the roller coaster fortunes of boy band Blue.
A rite-of-passage tale for our times.
Blue Whales has been developed at Tamasha Playwrights and Luton Script Lab. This will be a workshop reading.
